Peter is the driving force behind Astute Wilson, with over 20 years experience in finance and lending. Peter worked for two large financial institutions before starting up his own successful business Pinnacle Finance Brokers 11 years ago.
With exceptional knowledge of loan structuring, Peter always ensures his clients receive the most competitive loan packages available. In the past, Peter has been named a finalist in the 2002 and 2004 Australian Mortgage Awards for Sales Person of Year and Independent Broker of Year, and in 2006 took home the prestigious MFAA Finance Broker of the Year Award. In 2012 Peter was also named Business Operator of the Year at the Astute Recognising Excellence Awards.
Peter is continually receiving recognition for the quality of his work and understands that everybody’s circumstances are different, which is why he has been so successful in the past with all business coming via referrals from his large existing client base.
Peter more recently has diversified his business into not only home, commercial and vehicle finance but financial planning where he has two highly succesful financial planners assisting clients with superannuation, risk and planning advice.

Martin Newnes has enjoyed a career in the Financial Services industry spanning over 17 years and has specialised in providing strategic financial advice to clients since 2005.
After completing his Bachelor of Economics at the University of Queensland, Martin began his career with Suncorp Life & Superannuation, during which time he completed a Diploma of Financial Planning at Deakin University.
Martin co-established Astute Wilston’s planning division in December 2010 with Peter Trethowan, offering clients a wide range of services along with comprehensive financial advice.
Martin specialises in SMSFs and strategic financial advice, he is passionate about providing all of his clients with tailored advice solutions. Martin aims to create a process that provides his clients with a clear direction on where they are headed, removing the guess work on how best to reach their financial goals and how to protect the wealth they have already worked hard to create.

Grant has over 17 years experience in lending and loan processing for one of Australia’s major Banks and for one of the world’s largest banks in London. In that time, Grant has gained invaluable expertise in lending and customer relations which he now shares with his many happy clients.
Grant currently holds a Certificate IV in Financial Services (Finance/ Mortgage Broking), a Diploma in Finance and Mortgage Broking Management and is an Accredited Mortgage Consultant with the MFAA.
Specialising in residential, commercial and asset finance, Grant is pro-active in ensuring important time frames are met and the customer is satisfied with their lending needs. Grant’s knowledge and willingness to help brings back simplicity for clients in all aspects of home lending ensuring the home loan process is both smooth and enjoyable.

Tony began his career working for one of the major Australian banks, and has been involved in the Banking & Finance industry since. He has recently held senior management positions leading the delivery of retail lending products through a branch network and a highly successful mobile banking distribution channel.
His extensive career background has meant Tony is accredited for Residential Mortgages, Equipment & Vehicle Finance, as well as Commercial & Business Finance. He currently holds a Diploma of Finance & Mortgage Broking Management, a Cert IV in Financial Services and an Associate Diploma of Business (Management)
He was also a finalist for Best New Broker at the 2012 and 2013 Astute Recognising Excellence Awards. He was also nominated for Commercial Broker of the Year (2013).

David joins the Astute team with over a decade of experience as a business banking manager tailoring time and cost effective solutions for small business and commercial clients across a diverse range of industry.
After beginning his financial services career with Westpac before a highly successful career at ANZ, David forged a reputation for market leading service and relationship management capabilities which focused on a genuine understanding of the needs of commercial clients.
David’s passion & expertise across start up business, commercial property, asset finance, franchising & cash flow management allows him to provide relevant and influential financial solutions for any business whether it be start up business or more reputable established enterprises.‘

Rachael has always loved working with people and numbers, and combined these to join the financial services industry in 2010.
She began as a client services officer, and quickly progressed to a trainee paraplanner. She then started her own Financial planning business in 2014 with Charter Financial Planning (AMP).
During the course of 2013 and 2014, she completed her Diploma of Financial Planning, Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning and her SMSF Accreditation. She also became a JP (Qual).
She then moved her business from AMP to Snelleman Tom as the licensee in October 2016. While at Snelleman Tom she held a dual role of servicing her existing client base, as well as servicing Snelleman Tom clients. This provided a great opportunity to expand her skills and knowledge base as a planner.
During this period Rachael also completed her Fellow Chartered Financial Practioner (FchFP)
Rachael joins Astute with the goal of expanding her knowledge and skills as a planner and to ensure her clients achieve their wealth creation goals.

I have had 20 years’ experience working for one of Australia’s major banks and have been lucky enough to join the Astute Wilston Team.
I am very customer driven and focus on being proactive and reliable in my dealings. My aim is to make sure our clients have the best experience possible. I assist with after settlement with any maintenance and any administrative tasks to make sure everything is running smoothly.
I have had over 22 years’ experience working for one of Australia’s major banks. Having held previous roles as a Senior Credit Assessor and Credit Manager, I bring to my role here at Astute Wilston a vast knowledge of how lending institutions assess loan applications and how to structure proposals to gain their approval.
Having an insider’s knowledge of bank policies and requirements, I am here to assist the Astute Wilston brokers to obtain the finance you seek and making your dreams a reality.
