I grew up in beautiful Port Stephens, NSW, and moved to Cairns when I was 12. After finishing high school, I went straight into the banking industry and spent 16 years with one of the major banks. During that time, I worked across a range of roles from teller to management and everything in between . During my time I discovered my love for home lending and helping people achieve their home-buying dreams.
Over the years, I’ve found my focus shifting more toward building genuine relationships and delivering great customer service. I love being able to assist my clients — whether it’s buying their very first home or their tenth — and being a part of that journey with them.
After working with Astute professionally for many years, I knew it was a team that truly cared about its clients. Joining them felt like a natural fit, and I’m proud to be part of a supportive and experienced group that helps clients with all aspects of their financial journey — from home loans and insurance to financial planning and accounting.
John and the team looked after us on many fronts from mortgage, superannuation and even life insurance. We even compared rates on our new vehicle lease and Astute came through better than any bank.

Being self employed is always a bit of a struggle when it comes to home loans. The amazing team at Astute made this happen for us. Their down to earth yet professional approach is very reassuring. We have been using John since we bought our first house in 2008 and taken sound advice from him in all our finance dealing ever since; which has included, opening a business, building our second house and now purchasing an investment property. We trust the advice given to us and not understanding the finance world hugely rely on the knowledge given to us in making decisions.
